Journey through Jamaica with us experiencing the tranquility of Dunns River Falls, Holland Bamboo, Green Grotto Cove, Rasta Cove and Manchester Private Dining. All located on the 2nd floor at The Dutch Pot Jamaican Restaurant Miami Gardens.
The Dutch Pot Jamaican Restaurant began in 1998 after a friend and I were laid off from our jobs. While we were home figuring out what to do next, the idea came to us: why not start cooking and delivering meals to people we knew? We began by delivering food to my sister Jean, who is a cosmetologist, my other sisters, and a few friends who worked at nursing homes.
With support from our husbands, we set up a small cooking station in the backyard. My husband, Mr. Marshall, went to a local swap shop and found a single-burner stove and a gas cylinder, then brought them home and built a sturdy stand from metal studs to hold the stove. That backyard setup became the start of it all. What began as home-cooked deliveries quickly took off, and orders grew so fast we could hardly keep up. As demand continued to rise, we realized it was time to open a restaurant, and we made the decision to do so.
